Opening delayed to conserve water during maintenance
The Splash Pad at Til Taylor Park will open for its 2026 summer season on June 6, 2026. In past years, the free water attraction has opened the Friday before Memorial Day weekend; however, that opening has been pushed back due to maintenance at the City’s Water Filtration Plant.
Water demand can increase significantly during the first warm days of the season—rising from approximately 1.8 million gallons per day to as much as 7 million gallons per day. The City of Pendleton uses large water tanks – known as reservoirs – to store water and ensure water is available during peak usage times. This winter, the Clearwell reservoir at the Water Filtration Plant underwent significant maintenance and is in the process of coming back online. With warm weather and the need to fill the pools at the Pendleton Family Aquatic Center before the facility’s opening on June 6, staff pushed back the opening of the Splash Pad by one week to align with the opening of the aquatic center and to make sure water operations continue smoothly through the season.
The Til Taylor Splash Pad, 700 SE Dorion Ave., will run 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., June 6 through the end of September. The Splash pad is free and open to the public and is not reservable for private functions. When using the splash pad, please follow all posted rules and use good judgment when supervising children. This facility does not have a lifeguard on duty.
