Independence Day fireworks begin at 10 p.m. July 4

Pendleton, Ore. – The City of Pendleton has adjusted the location of the Fourth of July fireworks.

Pendleton’s fireworks display has typically been operated from the vacant parking lot southwest of the Pendleton Walmart; however, the production has been relocated due to fire and safety concerns with combustible materials within the fire safety zone.

This year, the fireworks will be launched from the north side of the Pendleton Round-Up grounds between the arena and the Umatilla River. The Pendleton River Parkway, also known as the Riverwalk, will be closed from Southwest 18th street to Roy Raley Park, near Southwest 10th street Friday evening to allow for fireworks launch.

This action will require also closures of:

  • Pendleton Round-Up Arena
  • Southwest 18th Street north of Westgate Ave
  • Fallen Field

The City of Pendleton apologizes for any inconvenience.

Roy Raley Park will be open; however, there will be no public access to the Pendleton Round-Up Grounds during the event.  The City of Pendleton wants to express its appreciation to the Round-Up Association for providing a space when the previous location was deemed unsafe. The City of Pendleton will be looking for a new permanent location for the fireworks launch in the coming months.

Please plan to watch the fireworks performance from a safe distance. There will be very limited viewing opportunities in the vicinity of the Round-Up Grounds. Remember only park in designated legal parking areas, don’t trespass and clean up after yourself.

Pendleton’s Fourth of July celebrations also include the VFW Independence Day parade and community events at Roy Raley Park. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Pendleton City Hall and will travel on Dorion Avenue to Main Street and then Court Avenue from Main Street to Roy Raley Park. The Fourth of July Community Celebration at Roy Raley Park is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
