Smoke above Pendleton from the Coombs Canyon Fire

Chief Tony Pierotti reports the Coombs Canyon Fire is out. The lightning-sparked fire burned approximately 900 acres, with multiple agencies responding, including Pendleton Fire & Ambulance, Echo Fire Department, Umatilla Tribal Fire, Oregon Department of Forestry,  UCFD1, Umatilla Rural, East  Umatilla Fire Department, and Pilot  Rock Fire Department.  No structures were burned, and no one was injured, but the fire did cause some evacuations.  During mop up, another fire started on Nolan Grade road, and officials began to divert units to that fire.First responders appreciate those who call and report fires and other emergencies so they can respond as quickly as possible. When reporting an emergency, please call 911, not the fire or police station.
