Assistant City Manager Chuck Byram announces retirement
PENDLETON, Ore. — The City of Pendleton announces that Assistant City Manager Charles (Chuck) Byram has announced he will retire effective August 31.
Byram, a lifelong Pendleton resident and Pendleton High School graduate, joined the City in March 2000 as a member of the Pendleton Police Department. He rose through the ranks, serving in numerous specialized roles before becoming Police Chief. On March 31, 2026, he transitioned into the newly created Assistant City Manager position, where he worked closely with City Manager Robb Corbett to support city operations, long-term planning, interdepartmental coordination, and organizational efficiency.
Assistant City Manager Byram stated: “I have had a long and fulfilling career with the City of Pendleton since March 1, 2000, but now its is time for me to start a new chapter in my life. I want to thank you and the City of Pendleton for allowing me to be a part of helping shape the future of our community.”
City Manager Robb Corbett stated: “Chuck has been a dedicated public servant to the City of Pendleton for more than 26 years. We thank him for his many years of professional and committed service to our community and wish him the very best in the future.”
Operations will continue without interruption. City Manager Corbett and the existing administrative team will manage the responsibilities of the Assistant City Manager position while the City evaluates next steps.
