City of Pendleton and Pendleton AAUW to host free community session Nov. 10
The City of Pendleton and the Pendleton Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will host a free community presentation and discussion with Grants Pass City Manager Aaron K. Cubic at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Pendleton Center for the Arts.
The educational event, “Conversation with Grants Pass: Homelessness and Oregon Cities,” will explore Grants Pass’ experience addressing homelessness. Community members will have an opportunity to hear directly from a city leader and ask questions about a complex issue affecting communities across Oregon.
Similar to Pendleton, Grants Pass has faced legal and community challenges associated with homelessness and the unhoused. Grants Pass was at the center of a landmark U.S. Supreme Court case concerning homelessness and public camping restrictions in 2024. In 2025, Disability Rights Oregon and the Oregon Law Center sued the city, alleging that its camping restrictions violated state law and discriminated against people with disabilities. The case was settled in August 2025.
The Pendleton discussion will give local residents an opportunity to learn more about the lessons Grants Pass has learned, the challenges it faces and the broader questions Oregon cities are navigating as they work to address homelessness.
“We are pleased to announce that the City Manager of Grants Pass, Aaron Cubic, will be providing a community presentation at the Pendleton Center for the Arts on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m.,” said Mary Lemm Davis, co-president of the Pendleton Branch of AAUW. “He will share what Grants Pass has learned over the last several years and respond to questions. Please join us for this educational opportunity.”
The City of Pendleton and AAUW are also partnering with the Pendleton Friends of the Library (PFOL) to facilitate the event. PFOL board president Tyler Johnson and Pendleton Branch AAUW co-president Mary Davis will moderate the discussion.
“Conversation with Grants Pass: Homelessness and Oregon Cities” begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2026, at the Pendleton Center for the Arts. This event is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend.
