About Us

Mission

The Pendleton Public Library strives to provide access to free educational programs, literary experiences, and information resources within our facility and beyond.

About Us

The Pendleton Public Library has served the city of Pendleton since 1987, prior to this time the Pendleton branch of the Umatilla County Library was housed in the Carnegie Library building, on North Main Street (Now Pendleton Center for the Arts).

We are pleased to offer a variety of services both in person and online. The library is a place to gather as a community, study independently, develop personal interests and engage with books and technology.

The Advisory Board of the Pendleton Public Library consists of 7 members appointed by the Mayor and Council and meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm. Members of the public are always welcome to attend.

The Pendleton Public Library receives financial support from:

The Umatilla County Special Library District, a county-wide, tax-supported, public library district which works in partnership with libraries to advance and make available excellent library services, programs and continuing education opportunities for all.

Pendleton Friends of the Library, a non-profit organization, the mission of which is to, focus public attention on the library’s services, facilities, and needs; and to stimulate gifts of books, magazines, desirable collections, endowments, bequests, and memorials to enhance the library and its service to the community.

The City of Pendleton and the State Library of Oregon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Anyone with a Pendleton address can get a free library card.

Bring a piece of picture ID with your current Pendleton mailing address, and fill out our application.  If your picture ID is not current, bring it and something official (a rent receipt, a water bill, a checkbook, a paycheck stub) with your current Pendleton mailing address to fill out the application.

The first time you check out, you can have 5 items.  We take a day to put your information into our computer.  After that, you have a limit of 50 items!

When your application has been entered into our computer, you will be able to hold up to 9 items, from any library in the Sage system.  You can even access your account online to search for and hold the items, though we are always pleased to do this for you at the library, too.

Most of our items check out for three weeks.  They can be renewed twice, if no other patron is waiting to check them out.  Our DVD's and video games check out for one week, and may also be renewed twice.  You can access your account online for renewals, or call us to renew things for you, or come in and talk to us in person (we always like that best).

All overdue items build fines at a rate of 20 cents per day, to a maximum amount of $5 per item.
