Bus Barn Groundbreaking

Event with tours and refreshments set for 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26.

Let ‘Er Bus transit has a new home at the Pendleton Bus Barn, located at 4834 NW H Ave., Pendleton, and the public is invited to attend the facility’s ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26.

The new facility houses the City of Pendleton’s public transportation fleet, which includes four ADA buses and six ADA minivans that provide a variety of public transit services. This project has been in development for several years and is now nearing completion. The project timeline is available at https://www.pendletonprojects.com/node/122

The $3.5 million project was funded through multiple grants, primarily from the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF) program. Umatilla County and the City of Pendleton each contributed about $500,000 toward the project.

This achievement would not have been possible without the strong support and collaboration of our partners. The City extends its sincere gratitude to Umatilla County, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), McCormack Construction, and MWA Architects Inc. for their contributions and commitment to making this project a reality.

“We’re incredibly thankful for the partnership and investment from Umatilla County, ODOT, McCormack Construction and MWA Architects,” Transit Administrator Josh Ernst said. “Their support has made a lasting difference in our community’s infrastructure.”

The new bus barn will not only serve the current needs of the city’s fleet but will also accommodate future growth and innovation in public transit services.

The City of Pendleton’s public transportation program includes:

  • The “Let ‘Er Bus” Deviated Bus Route Services: This service is available to the public at no cost, operates Mondays through Fridays and provides 11 daily runs to over 20 stops located throughout Pendleton.
  • Daily Van Service: Customers calls the taxi service the business day before to arrange rides for the following day during the hours of operation. This service runs within the City of Pendleton and the Urban Growth boundary, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, and costs $1 per ride.
  • Senior & Individuals with Disabilities Taxi Tickets: This program provide discounted taxi tickets to qualifying individuals.
  • Care Ride: With financial assistance from CHI St. Anthony Hospital, the City of Pendleton provides free taxi service for any person who needs prompt medical attention but does not require the specialized care and immediate response of an ambulance.
