To register for the Costume Contest at the Pendleton Library Comic Con, please fill out this webform. PDF versions are also available here or to pick up at the library. Registration will close 30 minutes before the contest begins.
Pendleton Library Comic Con Costume Contest Rules
Costumes spanning existing universes or original characters are eligible for the costume contest, however, all costumes must comply with the following rules:
- Costumes must be appropriate to wear in public and meet all standards for the Pendleton Public Library. If you could not wear the costume as a library patron, you cannot wear it in the costume contest.
- Costumes must be appropriate for an all-ages audience. This includes offensive language and costumes that could be deemed indecent exposure in the library environment.
- No vapes, smoke machines, fog machines, scent producing devices, or anything that involves fire. Anything that produces smoke, smells, or vapors is not allowed in the library.
- Any costume intended to harass, provoke, or intimidate isn’t allowed. Costumes cannot include any hate speech or items encouraging harassment or discrimination. In addition, Blackface and other types of racially imitative makeup will not be tolerated.
- Drones are not allowed as part of your costume.
- Costumes with props and weapons should meet the additional requirements below.
- Real weapons are not allowed.
- Any weapon or possible weapon that could seriously hurt somebody is not allowed.
- Functional firearms are not allowed – this includes but is not limited to paintball guns, airsoft guns, bb guns, cap guns, or any gun that shoots a real projectile or causes a real explosion.
- Realistic firearms are not allowed – any gun that could be confused for a real gun including rifles, shotguns, handguns, blowguns, and tasers are not permitted. If it looks like a real gun, don’t bring it.
- Functional projectile weapons such as but not limited to crossbows and slingshot are not allowed.
- No metal weapons, including but not limited to bladed weapons that are dulled, sword canes, switchblades, Bali-Song (Butterfly Knife), axes, Kunai, and hatchets.
- Lightsabers are allowed provided there is no metal above the hilt.
- Whips are not allowed.
- Explosives, incendiary devices, and chemical weapons are not allowed.
- Blunt weapons or items that could be used as a weapon such as bats, clubs, guitars, tennis rackets, golf clubs, brass knuckles, nunchucks, or hockey sticks are not allowed.
