Second edition features 26 original works
The Pendleton Public Library will launch the second edition of The Quill of Umatilla County Literary Magazine with an author reception on Oct. 17.
This year’s literary magazine features 26 original works of poetry and prose centered on the theme of “Time and Place.” Several authors will attend the event to read their works and answer questions from the audience. The launch event will be the first opportunity to purchase a copy of the literary magazine.
Launched in 2025, The Quill of Umatilla County gives local authors an opportunity to share their work with the community. Authors submit their work for consideration, and each submission is reviewed anonymously by a committee, which scores the work based on criteria including quality, relevance to the theme and originality. The highest-ranking submissions are included in the literary magazine.
The second edition includes fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Each author has a connection with Umatilla County, and the cover art was submitted by a local photographer.
The launch event begins at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Pendleton Public Library, 502 SW Dorion Ave., Pendleton. Desserts and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided at the event.
The Quill of Umatilla County second edition launch event is free and open to the public. Copies of the literary magazine may be purchased during the event for $10 each or checked out from the library with a library card.
