2025 event is Oct. 23-25 and includes changes to opening night
The Pendleton Friends of the Library will host the PFOL Annual Book Sale this October with a new twist.
“In past years, Thursday night was a members-only preview, which sometimes caused delays as people renewed memberships at the door,” said PFOL President Tyler Johnson. “To streamline the process, this year Thursday admission will be open to all for a flat $5 fee.”
There will be a cap of $20 per family for admission to the Thursday presale. Admission to the Book Sale on Friday and Saturday will continue to be free.
The Book Sale is the PFOL’s largest fundraiser of the year with more than 50,000 books and media for sale including children’s books, adult fiction, non-fiction, music CDs and DVDs. This year, the book sale will feature an expanded selection of rare books, ephemera and bookish gifts, including PFOL branded apparel and Storiarts selections. All funds raised go to PFOL to support programs, materials and other needs at the Pendleton Public Library.
Sale dates for the 2025 Book Sale are:
- 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23
- 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24
- 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25
The sale ends with the $3 Bag Sale from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. All books are sold first-come, first-served, and books cannot be reserved or placed on hold.
PFOL is looking for volunteers for the event from Monday, Oct. 20, through Saturday, Oct. 25. Anyone interested in volunteering at the Book Sale can fill out this Google Form or reach out via email, PendletonFriendsOfTheLibrary [at] gmail.com (PendletonFriendsOfTheLibrary[at]gmail[dot]com).
Most of the materials sold during the PFOL Annual Book Sale come from community donations. Donations of 20 boxes or fewer are accepted on Monday evenings at the back door of Pendleton City Hall, 500 SW Dorion Ave. Donations of more than 20 boxes must be done by appointment. The last opportunity to donate books for the 2025 PFOL Book Sale was 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, but donations will resume in November.
PFOL does not accept donations of text books, encyclopedias, Reader’s Digest, magazines or computer/software manuals.
