Event features special guest author, trivia, vendors, and more
The sixth annual Library Comic Con returns to the Pendleton Public Library on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. The annual event wraps up the library’s Summer Reading program in a dynamic fashion with hours of activities and presentations.
The featured guest for this year’s event is best-selling author Patricia Briggs, best known for her urban fantasy series following shapeshifter Mercy Thompson. Briggs will host a special presentation at 1 p.m. and will be available to meet with fans and sign books during the event. Books will be available for purchase.
New this year is a “pre-con” costume-building activity. Those interested in crafting costume pieces with cardboard, paint, and recycled materials can drop into the Community Room from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to build, craft, and fine-tune costume pieces with enough time to enter the annual Costume Contest for a chance at special prizes.
Other events at the 2026 event include a Super Smash Bros video game tournament, general and Jurassic World trivia contests, an escape room, LEGO print making, superhero mask making, interactive photo booth, and more. The event culminates with the Costume Contest at 4 p.m. where judges will score contestants and award prizes for best and most creative costumes for adults, teens, and children.
Vendors will have pop culture, literary, and geeky items for sale, but admission to the event and all activities will be free.
Registration for the costume contest is open and available online or in-person at the Pendleton Public Library. Read more about the costume contest at https://www.pendletonor.gov/library/page/library-comic-con-costume-contest-registration.
Limited vendor space is still available, and interested vendors can find the application form online or contact the Pendleton Public Library at 541-966-0380 for more information.
