The Administration Division provides leadership and management for the Pendleton Police Department. The Administration Division consists of the Chief of Police, the Operations and Administrative Lieutenants.
The Chief of Police is responsible for directing all activities of the Pendleton Police Department. His primary function includes, but is not limited to; ensuring that Department resources are used in the most efficient and effective manner to accomplish the mission and goals of the Department. The Chief of Police meets, establishes, facilitates, and directs communication with other city departments, criminal justice agencies and the community to assure quality services are being delivered on a daily basis. The Chief of Police also works with regional, state and national partners to enhance the ability of the Pendleton Police Department to accomplish the department's mission.
The Chief of Police ultimately establishes the direction and expectations for the Pendleton Police Department. Working with community members, elected and appointed officials, the Chief of Police establishes our current service priorities. Due to ever-changing technologies, social attitudes and laws the Chief of Police encourages input and ideas from the community and department members in order to improve service. The department places emphasis on training and skill(s) development, so agency personnel can meet the challenges of the constantly evolving policing environment.
Chief Tony Nelson
Tony Nelson has been employed with the Pendleton Police Department since August of 2000 and brings a strong commitment to community-oriented policing and professional leadership. He was born and raised in Hillsboro, OR and a graduate of Western Oregon University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
Rising through the ranks from within the department, Tony has dedicated much of his career to strengthening community relationships and fostering public trust. His leadership emphasizes engagement, service, and collaboration with residents and local organizations.
Beyond his professional duties, Tony has been actively involved in coaching youth programs for more than 12 years and has served with various community involvement groups. He strongly believes in and upholds the department’s core values of being Professional, Compassionate, Proud, and Dedicated.
He oversees a department consisting of 28 sworn police officers, three police assistants, and two code enforcement officers, working collectively to serve and protect the community.
Tyler Reddington, Operations Lieutenant
Tyler Reddington has served with the Pendleton Police Department since July 2006. Born and raised in La Grande, Oregon, he comes from a law enforcement family.
Throughout his career with PPD, Tyler has served as a Field Training Officer and Field Training Program Coordinator, a SWAT operator and SWAT Entry Leader, and an Oregon Physical Abilities Test Instructor. He also coordinated a regional first responder peer support team for several years, demonstrating his commitment to the well-being of our local first responder community—including police, fire, EMS, dispatch, and corrections.
Tyler has progressed through the patrol ranks, serving as Corporal and Sergeant before being promoted to Lieutenant in April 2026.
Outside of work, Tyler enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and volunteers countless hours coaching youth baseball and softball.
Tyler views his role as a police officer as a privilege and looks forward to continuing his leadership with PPD, ensuring the community has a police department it can be proud of.
Brandon Gomez, Administrative Lieutenant
Brandon Gomez has been with the Pendleton Police Department since January 1, 2003. He was promoted to Administrative Lieutenant in January 2024.
As Administrative Lieutenant, Gomez oversees the day-to-day operations of the Criminal Investigations Division, the Blue Mountain Enforcement Narcotics Team (BENT), and Police Assistants.
Throughout his career, Lieutenant Gomez has served in a variety of assignments, including the Patrol Division as both an Officer and Sergeant, and the Criminal Investigations Division as a Major Crimes Detective and Narcotics Detective.
