Tony Nelson has been employed with the Pendleton Police Department since August of 2000 and brings a strong commitment to community-oriented policing and professional leadership. He was born and raised in Hillsboro, OR and a graduate of Western Oregon University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
Rising through the ranks from within the department, Tony has dedicated much of his career to strengthening community relationships and fostering public trust. His leadership emphasizes engagement, service, and collaboration with residents and local organizations.
Beyond his professional duties, Tony has been actively involved in coaching youth programs for more than 12 years and has served with various community involvement groups. He strongly believes in and upholds the department’s core values of being Professional, Compassionate, Proud, and Dedicated.
He oversees a department consisting of 28 sworn police officers, three police assistants, and two code enforcement officers, working collectively to serve and protect the community.
